Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a historic milestone in Indian politics by becoming the longest-serving head of an elected government in the country.  With this, PM Modi has surpassed Pawan Kumar Chamling, who held office as Chief Minister of Sikkim for 8,930 days. He has now completed 8,931 days as head of government, combining his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat and as Prime Minister, thereby entering his 25th year in a leadership role. The milestone is being seen as a rare and significant achievement, reflecting decades of uninterrupted public service and political leadership at the highest level. Over the course of his career, PM Modi has set several notable records, including being the longest-serving Chief Minister of Gujarat and the Prime Minister with the longest prior experience as a CM. He is also the first Prime Minister of India to have been born after Independence and has secured victory in three consecutive Lok Sabha elections in 2014, 2019 and 2024, a feat that underscores political longevity and sustained public mandate. PM Modi first assumed office as Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001, and continued in the role until May 21, 2014, leading the state for more than 13 years before moving to national politics. He was sworn in as the 14th Prime Minister of India on May 26, 2014, becoming the first non-Congress leader to secure a full majority in the Lok Sabha. He later became the first non-Congress Prime Minister to complete two full terms in office and return for a third consecutive term. 

PARVATHIPURAM-MANYAM: Deputy Chief Minister (Panchayat Raj and Rural Development) Konidela Pawan Kalyan on Friday laid foundation stone for as many as 19 roads with an estimated cost of Rs 46 crore for various tribal villages in Parvathipuram-Manyam district. Braving heavy rain, he reached Bagujola village under Duggeru Gram Panchayat in Makkuva mandal from Visakhapatnam, and laid the foundation stone for Bagujola – Sirivara road taken up at an estimated cost Rs 9.5 crore under MGNREGA. He was accorded a rousing welcome with traditional dances by tribal people. Tribal Welfare Minister Gummadi Sandhya Rani, District Collector A Shyam Prasad, Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Commissioner Krishna Teja and other officials received him. Later, he visited a photo exhibition organised at Bagujola depicting the situation of the road connectivity in Parvathipuram Agency, where he interacted with the local tribes, and enquired about the difficulties being faced by them due to lack of proper road connectivity. He also laid the foundation stone for other roads worth Rs 36. 71 crore for various tribal villages in the district. Over 3,800 tribals will benefit in as many as 55 hamlets in a stretch of 39.32 km with this road connectivity. The residents of these 55 hamlets will get relief from the doli journey with the construction of roads. The Deputy Chief Minister also held a meeting with the local tribesmen at Bagujola and enquired about their socio-economic status and the welfare schemes and development programmes being implemented by ITDA.

Reiterating his government’s resolve to ensure the next generation of the State is well equipped to face the global challenges in every sphere of activity and emerge top to rule the world, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has asserted that Amma Vodi is one of the measures initiated by the government to make it happen.  At a programme held at Kurupam in Parvathipuram Manyam district on Wednesday, he released Rs 6,392.94 crore under the Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme for the academic year 2022-23, benefiting 83,15,341 students of class 1 to Intermediate. The amount will be directly credited into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries’ mothers. The programme, being implemented for the fourth consecutive year, will be held for 10 days in a festive atmosphere across the State.  Addressing a large gathering of students and their parents on the occasion, Jagan said, “Amma Vodi is being implemented to fulfil the wishes of parents that their children should be highly educated and settle down well in life by getting good jobs.”

Parvathipuram-Manyam district retained its first place for the fourth consecutive time in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Class 10 examinations results on Thursday (April 30, 2026), proving that students from tribal areas are second to none in academics. The district achieved a 96.07% pass percentage against the State-wide average of 85.25%.

The YSR Congress Party leaders and activists are upbeat over the first-ever visit of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to Kurupam of Parvathipuram-Manyam district on Wednesday. He will formally launch the fourth edition of Amma Vodi scheme under which the mothers of school going children will be given financial assistance to ensure proper education for the kids.  

Parvathipuram Manyam district collector A. Shyam Prasad instructed the revenue officers to identify government lands to establish government infrastructure in the mandals. The district collector conducted a review meeting with revenue officers at the collectorate on Tuesday. Addressing the gathering, he instructed the revenue officers to identify lands to establish industrial parks, fisheries hatchery, fish market, urban forests, grama panchayat buildings and solar systems.
